The Marquis of Queensbury

Just a few things here..
Mainly from the Dump Shop and Vinnies..

MIDWINTER stuff is usually a winner for me.
I am never surprised
when I pick something funky up
to see MIDWINTER
written underneath!

And look at the price!

 Cute little trio of saucers.

Some great little 10c egg cups. I recon most people my age would remember a stack of egg cups like that.

JOHNSON plates.
I love the way they have a raised rim. No peas sliding off those ones!
(Have you seen Zara's collection in my linky? OMG!!!!)

I love these little handpainted plates. 3 of them. Side plates. $1

Decals before they were called decals!
More plastic-pretending-to-be-glass trays.

This was the type of little book Great Aunts would send us on our birthdays when we were kids. SO cute!

Arlo wanting to be in on the action.

Gratuitous Arlo photo.
He is ONE on THursday.
Whaaaaaat?!

Hopefully one of the last photos of my hair before I change the colour of it.
And I mean CHANGE!
(AFter a rainy excursion)

Happy Days!

Collection Selection Link Party- SPOONS

Just a hastily thrown together Collection today - better late than never!

There are large collections and small collections at my place.
This is a small one, obvs!
I pick them up when I see them, but only if they're 50c or less (or $1 for cool ones that really appeal to me!)
They sit in this little bowl on the bench by the sugar bowl and the tea pot ..

They're mostly NZ ones (there's the CHCH cathedral there) and the gondola and the luge in Rotorua.
Some are aussie as you can see.
I like them.
They're kitsch.

And they don't take up much space! (win!)

Linked up to Sir Thrift-a-Lot
coz you know I love a good link up!

What do you collect?!

A Badass Blogger

I've been a bad blogger!
It's been nearly a week.
50 slaps with a wet noodle for me.

Of course, I've been popping in to the odd op shop.
I'm a bit behind, but here's a start!

This little lot is from the little church oppie on Heaphy Tce. (St Aidan's)

* Best cotton money can buy (10c each) I just choose the ones with the wooden reels.
There are heaps there.
* Great little napkin.
These 3 were in the free bin. You know I love those little sundae cups.
A lot of y'all, like me, remember eating your jelly and ice cream out of these..
(M. R. I can't get your blog up anymore by the way..!!!)

I LOVE SHirley Hughes and her amazing illustrations.

Such detail.

* 3 more little egg cups for Iris'slittle collection in her 'tending (pretending) kitchen' (below)

And now a little haul from my local beloved Red Cross. I love that shop!!!
* Table cloth $2
* Little plastic jug 20c
* These funky old-timer picnic cups were in the fill-a-bag-for-$1 just inside the door.

* 2 bangles 50c
and my big $4 bill!!

Looks like I also got a kids top, but that was the table cloth, and my mate down there hasn't charged me the 20c for the jug..

Like Vix said the other day, even if I had unlimited  funds I would still buy most of what I own second hand.

I was gifted 2 big boxes of kids' books the other day.  One of the most popular has been this treasury of GB stories. So  familiar to me from my childhood!

I missed doing a Collection link up - I'll try and do it in the next few days!
Happy/busy days!

That Friday Feeling

It's Friday!!!
Jump for JOY!

Speaking of JOY,
my mate Joy
who works at the Hamilton Operatic Wardrobe..(incl costume hire)
has informed me that they are having a sale of COATS
starting tomorrow at 10am (Clarence St)
Here are some of the beautiful labels of some of the clothes. Drool!
Finally getting a chance to blog about the stuff I scored at the oppies on holiday.
I love exploring other towns and their op shops.
Buzz.
SO
in no particular order...
I am going to finish off what someone started!

These were 10c each.
I got the kid ones, from the 70s mainly..

I just love the packaging from bygone eras..
And this pattern is from my birth year. Any guesses?
I'm sure my Mum used this exact pattern.

LARGE table cloth $1

I cannot describe what a lifesaver these things are for crawling babies, in the winter!

* Another table cloth. $2
* Hat (reversible) 20c
* Trou for John (he lucked in BIG TIME on this holidy. He scored 6 pairs retro suit trousers and 5 very cool shirts)
* Apron
* Kitsch holiday snaps photo album on a stand.

These items were on a 50c / 3 for $1 rack at an op shop in Te Kuiti.
* Nighty, tea dress, halter neck top.

THE FOLLOWING ITEMS
were in the Fill-A-BAg for $1 boxes at that Hospice shop I pictured a few posts ago..
Orange plastic coasters. Love the woodgrain in the packaging

* Plastic picnic stuff. Lots of. bowls, small and large plates.
* 4 green plastic-that-looks-like-glass for my collection.
* A large plastic weave basket.. (I really thought I'd taken another shot of all this stuff!)

Close up of that photo album. (It has slide in plastic photo pockets.)

* Very cool wool coat. Not sure about the buttons.
* Dress

Thermos, obvs!

Fill a bag of scarves/fabric for 50c

3 mexican scenes from the 60s.
I selected these ones (they were 10c each)
because they are 1966, the year of John's birth.
Friday's Frock..
This is Iris on holiday, in a dress I wore as a kid.

I bought this for my friend who we stayed with (she likes owls)

I WISH shop workers wouldn't put sellotape over things like that!! Pulled off some areas of the surface  which is frustrating!
 Have a lovely Friday!
Happy Days!

Op Shopping Adventures

So here are some of my holiday op shopping adventures!
I've said it before on here -
Te Kuiti is an op shopping mecca!

Not much room for my legs
LOL!

This is what my friend got at one shop.
She rocks that jumper.
And that 'dog blanket'
is not
smelly
dirty
holey
or
threadbare.
Why it was proclaimed to be a dog blanket I know not!
She washed it and it's a beauty! Score!

Clothing for the kids -
50c for each one..
Thunderwear top
Cute twirly skirt
Handmade shorts

Shoes for me
The orange ones were a buck

I presume you put your spoon on this after stirring your tea.
And Pukekura Park is truly one of the most amazing parks you could hope to ever go to.

Apron, plastic bling, (the kind where the beads are popped together/apart to adapt the length)
20c napkins

20c tooled bag from a Te Kuiti op shop.
More holiday scores to come...

***

I've been meaning to put up some pix from the Collection Selection Link up I've been doing weekly..

For those that enquired, the couple from the house featured yesterday are in their eighties. The house itself was amazing, and what I've shown was a fraction of what they had in there. I want to be them when I grow up!!!
Jasmine collects Alice in Wonderland books.
Max has amassed a drool-worthy Crown Lynn Colour Glaze collection. (amongst other things!)

I had never heard of Vera scarves before, but Jill has a fabulous collection, and I'm quite inspired!
Kitchen Canisters to drool over @ Vintage Bird Girl

I'll add in more Collection Buddy links in my next episode!

Happy Days!
(apart from all the housework I really need to do!)
